After reading an advertisement about the Extravaganza in December, he and his wife Jennifer figured it was worth a shot and they headed to Best Buy in Countryside to do their Christmas shopping. Their efforts paid off. "I was just blown away when I heard the news," said his wife Jennifer, who moved to LaGrange Park from Oak Park in June. "What a great welcome to the neighborhood! We are tickled pink that we can win prizes by just shopping locally." The promotion was an effort to encourage the community to get their holiday shopping done in Countryside. The end result was a large dose of economic relief for the lucky winner. "We figured this was a great way to give people an added incentive to shop in our city, boost the economy and have a chance to win a fantastic shopping spree," said Mayor Conrad. The Lajewskis, who have two children, plan on spending the $5,000 on new furniture, patio doors and groceries at Countryside retailers like Home Depot, Value City Furniture, Jewel Osco and Dominick's. Countryside, a western Chicago suburb of about 6,000 residents, is home to a wealth of national retail outlets as well as 13 auto/cycle brands and 11 car dealerships. The City also offers a convenient and accessible location just off I-55 and I-294. ##### |
