According to Rosebud Antiques, one of Chicagoland's more sought after vintage boutiques located in the heart of Countryside, the nation's economic turbulence coupled with the holiday season has officially created a renewed sense of nostalgia. "People are becoming more reminiscent in the current economic climate," observed store owner Candy Sanders. "Think Marshall Fields, Mr. Magoo, James Bond... people are hunting for things that remind them of the good ol' days." Come time for the holidays each year, Rosebud Antiques undergoes its infamous "Christmas-transformation", becoming fully outfitted in 50 aluminum Christmas trees, tinsel, holly and hundreds of life size, hanging, plastic and wax candle Santas to really get customers into the holiday spirit. The boutique is home to unique, highly sought-after merchandise like 60's sting rays, Polks Brothers santas, Hamm's beer signs, vintage glittered doll houses, stuffed dolls with rubber hands. Sisters and avid collectors Candy & Kim Sanders launched the boutique almost 15 years ago-- and watched it grow from a single booth seller to a suburban haven for eclectic and nostalgic items. Rosebud Antiques is participating in "Countryside's 12-Day of Christmas Extravaganza" in which a customer who spends at least $100 at any single Countryside retailer is automatically eligible to win a $5,000 shopping spree anywhere in city limits, donated by Countryside.
