Countryside makes donation to Pleasantdale Middle School

Burr Ridge, Ill. - The show must go on--but not without the right lighting! Thanks to Vulcan Materials Company and the City of Countryside's joint donation of $5,000, Pleasantdale Middle School will enjoy a brand new theatre lighting system just in time for the school's first production of "Alice and Wonderland." The joint donation will help give the Pleasantdale School District the stage and lighting facilities needed to accommodate student interest in music and drama performances.

"We are extremely grateful for Countryside and Vulcan's generous support," said Mark Fredisdorf, Superintendent of Pleasantdale School District. "The new lighting system will make a quantum leap in the quality of our student productions."

A brief ceremony was held on Friday, April 11 just prior to the school's first theatre production of "Alice & Wonderland." Representatives of the city and the McCook Quarry were on-site to present the donation to Superintendant Fredisdorf and the students.

"We are very pleased to be able to contribute to Pleasantdale," said Countryside Mayor Robert Conrad. "As a community, we take pride in extracurricular accomplishments and encourage students to get involved."

In an act of teamwork between a private and public entity, The City of Countryside and Vulcan each committed $2,500 to help fund the new lighting system.

"We are thrilled to support Pleasantdale Middle School's theatre program," said Patti Essig, Inside Sales Representative for Vulcan's Midwest Division. "We look forward to seeing student productions in action with the new lighting."

Essig also serves as Vice President of Pleasantdale School District 107. In addition, Vulcan is bringing Pleasantdale Middle School into the company's Adopt-a-School program which provides assistance, expertise, materials and people power to schools in the community.

"The greater community will benefit from the use of this wonderful facility for years to come," added Fredisdorf. "It wouldn't even be possible without the generosity and support from Countryside and Vulcan."
