Winning Numbers COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. - Countryside's financial reporting has been checked, balanced and now awarded. Countryside will receive the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2007 fiscal year. This is the first time Countryside has been recognized for this award.
This prestigious award will be given to Finance Director Gail Paul for her department's outstanding efforts in compiling the City's Annual Financial Report (CAFR). According to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the award reflects a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
"We are extremely proud of Gail and her department's excellent fiscal leadership for the City," said Mayor Robert Conrad. "This award is really a testament to how hard our City staff and officials work to keep our City running smoothly."
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Countryside's comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel on its full disclosure in communicating the City's financial story as well as its ability to motivate potential users to read the CAFR. After the evaluations were completed, Countryside was announced as one of the finest examples in financial reporting.
"We hope that your example will encourage other government officials in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting," said Stephen Gauthier, Director of Technical Services at the GFOA.
The award will be presented to the City at a City Council meeting upon the delivery of the plaque.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 16,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
