COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. - Drivers along the Stevenson Expressway now will be reminded of one of Countryside's gems, Flagg Creek Golf Course, while on the highway.

Countryside recently secured the installation of two highway attraction signs along the Stevenson Expressway. Working through the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Bureau of Tourism, Countryside's golf course was given exposure on one of the first blue attractions signs in the area.

"Flagg Creek Golf Course is one of the best in the area and this new sign will remind drivers of our course just off the highway," said Mayor Robert Conrad. "We are thrilled the state has recognized this attraction in our community. This is a great example of government entities working together."

One of the signs is located before the LaGrange Road exit along the outbound Stevenson Expressway while the other is positioned before the Joliet Road exit along the inbound Stevenson Expressway.

"Countryside is home to a beautiful parks system including Flagg Creek Golf Course," Conrad said. "In addition to our golf course, our City has great shopping, dining and hotels. We are also home to the start of Route 66 where Flagg Creek Golf Course is located."

Flag Creek Golf Course is co-owned by the City of Countryside and the Pleasantdale Park District. It features bentgrass greens, watered fairways and three sets of tees for golfers of all skill levels. Renovated in 1993, the course was completely re-designed by Greg Martin whom preserved the beautiful mature trees of the previous course. Flagg Creek is conveniently located at Route 66 (Joliet Road) and Wolf Road.
