Santa visits Countryside

The contest is now closed.

Start decking the halls because Christmas has come early to Countryside. Numerous reports of Santa sightings have been popping up throughout town - some saw him on LaGrange Road, others passed him in a convertible on Route 66 and some spotters even received a gift from jolly old Saint Nick.

Santa chose Countryside as the place to get all his shopping done. As he shopped on September 11th Santa couldn't resist giving gift cards from Countryside businesses. Countryside is even giving a $500 gift certificate to one lucky person.

Santa's visit coincided with the unveiling of the new Countryside billboards on the Stevenson Expressway. The billboards show the jolly old man cruising in his convertible with the tag line: "It's where he shops, stays, motors, dines and plays." The boards are on the inbound Stevenson at LaGrange Road and outbound Stevenson at Lemont Road.

Mayor Robert Conrad welcomed Santa and also encourages others to take advantage of all Countryside can provide.

"We are thrilled Santa made Countryside his first stop of the shopping season. He obviously knows where he can get it done," Mayor Conrad said. "Countryside's retailers have a lot to offer. We are conveniently located and provide a variety of services."

Countryside has been energetically promoting the advantages of its great City. 2005 saw the launch of gocountryside.net, a comprehensive site designed to inform people of Countryside's offerings. These billboards are also the third in a series marketing Countryside to drivers on the Stevenson Expressway. They will be seen by motorists until the end of the year.

"Follow Santa's lead, come visit Countryside and see what we are all about," Mayor Conrad exclaimed.
