(COUNTRYSIDE, Ill.) Newly elected Mayor Robert Conrad and the Countryside City Council announced today the newest leg in the City's marketing plan - gocountryside.net Celebrate 2007 - a series of 17 special events from June thru December designed to provide family fun and entertainment while promoting the City's diverse business community including its auto dealers, hotels, restaurants and retailers.

"We continue to be very aggressive in promoting our City," said Mayor Robert Conrad. "By leveraging our resources together, we can more effectively market our City. These events will help market our community while providing a wonderful opportunity for area residents to get together with family, friends and neighbors and enjoy Countryside."

The 2007 line-up includes new programming - Harvest Fest and Christmas Tree Lighting - in addition to the ever popular Movies in the Park series, Concerts in the Park series, Countryside Antique Classic Custom Car and Cycle Show, and Children's Halloween and Christmas parties. The concert series has been expanded from 6 to 8 shows.

The City is also continuing its efforts to develop sponsorship opportunities to help underwrite its marketing and special programming efforts. Vulcan Materials Company is the presenting sponsor of gocountryside.net Celebrate 2007. The Doings newspaper also is a sponsor.

"We want to thank Vulcan Materials Company for their high level of participation once again in our community," he said. "It is wonderful to have such a great corporate neighbor step up and be part of our community."

Conrad said he and the City Council look forward to an exciting year of events and the thousands expected to enjoy the true spirit of the Countryside community. The series kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on June 7 at Countryside Park (61st Street, 1/2 block east of Brainard Avenue) with a concert featuring Bill O'Connell & Chicago Skyliners Big Band. The 6th Annual Countryside Antique, Classic Custom Car & Cycle Show follows on June 8 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Holiday Inn William Tell (6201 Joliet Road, Countryside). All events are free.
