Landscape Ordinance

Countryside, Ill. - Countryside businesses will be sprucing up their properties just in time for spring. The Countryside City Council has approved a landscape ordinance to enhance the City's commercial and industrial corridors.

In an effort to continue to improve aesthetics and quality of life in Countryside, the City Council approved the ordinance that preserves the appearance and character of the City while enhancing property values. This ordinance will benefit residents by protecting these community assets, which contribute distinctive environmental, economic and aesthetic benefits.

Mayor Carl LeGant said this ordinance will help businesses and residents coexist while continuing to improve the character of Countryside.

"Our community just celebrated its 45th anniversary and we are continuing to grow and develop," LeGant said. "So it is important that we protect our natural environments and preserve the appearance of Countryside. People come to Countryside because of its character."

The City's goal by requiring additional landscaping and buffers is to minimize the impact of noise, dust, debris, headlight glare and other artificial light on residents adjacent to commercial property. The new guidelines are intended to increase the compatibility of adjacent land uses by requiring a buffer or screen between such uses.
