Countryside Announces 2009 Special Events

Come Experience Countryside Live!

Mayor Robert Conrad and the Countryside City Council are pleased to announce Countryside Live! a series of 11 special events from June through December. As tough economic times continue to affect all of us, the City of Countryside's special events provide a great way to fill those summer nights, fall and early winter days FREE! The City is please to be able to offer its residents a variety of entertainment right in their own backyards. Whether it is catching one of the free concerts, attending Harvest Fest, or greeting Santa and Mrs. Claus as they arrive to kick off the Christmas season, the City's 2009 Special Events are a great way to enjoy your time in Countryside and events with your neighbors.


The 2009 line-up presented by Vulcan Materials Company includes the ever popular Concerts in the Park series, Harvest Fest, Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Children's Christmas Party. For more information on Vulcan Materials Company, please visit www.vmcmccook.com

Countryside's 2009 Concerts in the Park Series

Grab a blanket and prepare for an evening of fun, family, friends and good music at Countryside Park. Hungry? Enjoy the tastes of Countryside from a local food vendor; a Countryside Restaurant will be featured every week. All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. under the gazebo at Countryside Park. Concerts are held rain or shine.

June 18, 2009: Marshall Star

Marshall Star is an entertaining, crowd pleasing country-rock group from Midwest Wisconsin. The group plays original and cover songs, and continues to headline for many nationally known artists, such as Lonestar, The Bellamy Brothers, Collin Raye, the Beach Boys, and many others. Marshall Star believes in high-energy, quality performances. For over a decade, Marshall Star has entertained audiences with their unique blend of talent and personality.

June 25, 2009: Blooze Brothers

This high-powered, choreographed, 12-piece show band covers music from the 40's to Top 10, Swing, Motown, Soul, R&B, Classic Rock, original music from the band, and of course the music of the famous original Blues Brothers!


July 2, 2009: Illinois Brass Band - Patriotic Songs

The Illinois Brass Band was founded in 1992 by George Foster and William Homer. Now in its 18th year, the Illinois Brass Band is made up of volunteer musicians from all of Chicago land. Throughout its illustrious history the band has won six NABBA championships, hosted a NABBA competition and competed at the British Open in Birmingham England...all while maintaining a regular series of 15 - 20 concerts per year. Brass Band is in high
demand for patriotic events and parades...perfect to kick off Independence Day weekend in Countryside!

July 9, 2009: Heartless

Heartless' high energy show includes songs from the entire Heart discography, from the 70's to
current songs. Each show also features favorites from other classic rock icons including Led Zeppelin, The Who, Bon Jovi, Journey, Janis Joplin and more. The band offers a high energy set to a full headline performance. Heartless is a unique project that will excite and satisfy every time.

July 16, 2009: Joe "Elvis" Tirrito

Joe has been performing his Tribute for about 20 years. He has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Geraldo Rivera Show, and was featured in the National Enquirer. His breathtaking rendition of Unchained Melody, sung acapella, will pull an audience to its feet with applause. Joes' enormous energy electrifies his audiences and instills in them the joy he feels in his music. His magnetism will thrill old and young alike, making him a favorite for outdoor summer concerts!

July 23, 2009: The Cavern Beat

The Cavern Beat (Al Wagner, Jim Irizarry, Armando Regalado, James Lynch) is the Beatles tribute for the true music fan! Sure, they may wear a wig or two and throw in an authentic British accent here and there, but they always put the sound quality first. From loud, clear vocal harmonies to correct tempo, key and chords, every song they play is as amazingly accurate as the way you first heard it. Since their performance in May 2003, their growing reputation has helped The Cavern Beat become the busiest and most sought after Beatles tribute band in the mid-west. Their sound and energy creates excitement from Chicago to Liverpool to Tokyo.

July 30, 2009: The Eddie Butts Band

The Eddie Butts Band is also one of the longest running, most successful bands in Wisconsin and the Midwest. Eddie is also known as one of the city's premiere vocalists. When you combine his smoky baritone with the sweet tones of the band's two female vocalists, the fantastic musicianship and a delicious blend of jazz, pop, and R&B, well, it's easy to see why the Eddie Butts Band is considered a favorite, year after year. Enjoy an outdoor summer evening of
entertainment, dancing and fun with THE EDDIE BUTTS BAND!


August 6, 2009: The Meteors

The Meteors pay tribute to over sixty different artists from the United States and Britain, playing only the best hits from the 50's and 60's. Their musical magic (spanning over 20 years) is sure to bring back many great memories. Played with the same authenticity as the original artists, The Meteors always make sure the sound is right for your event. So get out your
dancing shoes, and get ready to party your way through a musical experience that will be a hit with all ages. Your guests will undoubtedly find The Meteors music familiar and completely entertaining.


Harvest Fest

Saturday, October 10: Noon to 5:00 pm
Get ready for fall at Harvest Fest! Before the weather turns cold, enjoy the day with friends and family at Harvest Fest where you can pick out your own pumpkin, take a hay ride, enter the scarecrow making contest or play games with the interactive DJ. This popular event will include fall arts and crafts for the children, pumpkin decorating, a costume parade, a dime carnival, and much more. Bring your appetite and enjoy food from a local Countryside restaurant. This one-day Saturday event is held at Countryside Park, located at 61st Street, ½ block east of Brainard Avenue.


Christmas Tree Lighting Festival*

Friday, November 27: 6:00 pm
It's time to light up Countryside for the holidays. Bundle up and join the Mayor and City Council as they light the tree in Memorial Park to begin the holiday season. Welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus as they arrive on a fire truck and join the carolers in holiday music. This event is held at Memorial Park at Plainfield Road and 55th Street in Countryside

Children's Christmas Party*

Saturday, December 5: 10:45 - Noon

Santa knows where the good kids live - Countryside! Visit with Mr. and Mrs. St. Nick at the annual Children's Christmas Party. The party is a great place to get in the spirit and enjoy time with family, friends, and neighbors. Entertainment and refreshments are just part of this fun-filled family event. The event is open to all Countryside residents and his held at Park Place of Countryside, 6240 W. Joliet road, in Countryside.
